Why I'm switching newsletter providers

Substack has long supported racist & anti-transgender writers, so it's time to move along.

Hey kids!

It’s been awhile, and I’m itching to restart my newsletter. However, I’m not dying to do it any longer on Substack.

In the early 2020s, when Twitter (ever heard of them?) began to crack down on misinformation, many of the affected trolls moved their base of operations to Substack. Even before then in its earliest days, Substack was subsidizing some of those same writers, as means of boosting the platform’s visibility. And since then, it’s come to light that Substack’s own policies encourage misinformation in the name of free speech. Here’s a clip from the Decoder podcast where host Nilay Patel couldn’t get Substack CEO Chris Best to denounce hate speech:
